Shakuhachi is a Japanese flute that has been played for more than 1000 years. It is the traditional instrument of the Zen Buddhist monks who play in the mountains and valleys of Japan. The shakuhachi is made from a single piece of bamboo and has only four finger holes (in contrast, Western flutes have several).
