How Should I Use EQ for music making?

use equalizer

A primer on equalization – what it is, where it came from, how it works, and how it differs from other types – will help clarify some of the mysticism around EQ tools and methods. An EQ is one of the most common types of audio processing. As well as boasting a sound’s volume, it can fix certain imperfections. A harmonious blend of sounds is created by cutting or boosting unwanted frequencies. If we know our mics won’t reject certain frequencies, we won’t have to worry about tinny cymbals, scratchy acoustic guitars, and sibilant vocals.

Low frequency oscillation (LFO)

Definition

LFO doesn’t create sound or music. It can only modify a few parameters of sound. It can bend with a low frequency. Low-frequency oscillation (LFO) is clearly expressible a low level of sound generally below 20Hz. This LFO changes the sound produced by the original Oscillator. LFOWe use Hertz (Hz) to express Frequency . 1 Hz means one cycle per second. 100 Hz = 100 cycles-per-second.  LFO can regulate the sound of oscillators at a slower rate. Generally, the slow rate is 10Hz or less. That means, the LFO varies 10 times per second or slower.

Oscillator in music

Oscillator in music

An oscillator may be a repetition wave shape with a fundamental and peak amplitude. It forms the bottom of contemporary synthesis techniques. These square measure the fundamental parts & factors of a synth sound. Oscillators square measure wont to check electronic circuits, transmit radio signals, and supply integrative material within the production of electronic and sound synthesis.

What is sound wave

Air particles do not travel in any motion. They oscillate around a point in space. The rate of this oscillation is known as the frequency of the sound wave and is denoted in cycles per second (cps) or hertz (Hz). The amount of compression/rarefaction of the air is the amplitude of the it.

Sound  is a vibration that generates an acoustic wave. The distance between consecutive peaks of compression or rarefaction is the wavelength of the sound wave (denoted by λ). Fast traveling wave results on a greater λ

MIDI & equal tempered scale -the relation & effect

When we make music, we need to define a set of tuning-frequencies. Such a set of frequencies often called a scale. Before get into the topic MIDI & equal tempered scale we will discuss on basics.

In western music, the most popular scale is the equal tempered scale which is based on starting at some reference-frequency. The equal tempered scale is relatively fixed scale used for the tuning of pianos and other instruments.
