The 5 Ultimate Steps Of How I Record Music

Introduction

Record Music

Wants to make music? So what are the inevitable steps to recording a great song? How do you get from idea to implementation to final product? In today’s blog, we are revealing the secret of how to record music as an easy-to-follow, step-by-step guide to a finished song.

Steps to record music

Step1 – Songwriting

Creation music starts with song writing. This is the most tough, challenging step. While with outstanding melodies and innovative lyrics the song will be memorable.  Make an effort to have interesting lyrical ideas. They don’t have to be super deep or intelligent, just interesting and memorable. A good song will develop as it goes along, taking us on a melodious ride with surprises. Notation software is a very useful technique that can be used in this initial step.

Step 2 – Arrangement to record music

Firstly you need to have an idea for a song. Before you start recording, you need to know how that song starts and ends and all the chapters in between. The arrangement is the structure of the song. Virtual instruments and synths are great for those of us on a budget. If you play live instruments use a decent microphone and audio interface, or a recording studio! Do you have a song structure that’s easy to record and follow? Is it a typical verse/chorus/bridge thing or is it more experimental? In order to record a song it needs to know its structure. Before recording at all, make sure the structure and arrangement of the song is finished.

Step 3 – Foundation creation

In this stage plan and lay the foundation of the track. In a simple band recording this usually consists of a drum track and maybe a guiding scratch guitar. A scratch track is a track that’s used as guidance for any other instrument. So you have to decide how many tracks [e.g. each track as one instrument]  you want to record.

Step 4 – Rhythm ‘n’ Riffs

After foundation building focus on the rhythm elements. It can be named as mixing step. To mix the album, it’s important to have a quality monitoring environment, as well as quality monitors (speakers). It needs to be re-recording of your scratch tracks, with high technology and attention taken in the recording process. This can also be the guitar riffs, piano chords or synth stabs.

Step 5 – Lead Elements

Here, you should have a really grooving and well-constructed mix. After having the right foundation with the drums and bass as well as the rhythm elements driving the song forward. Now, the next thing to do is to add lead vocals and solos. After eliminating any disturbances of that scratch vocal track you were using and record the polished final product. Here, the advance technology is needed to mixing & editing the final track. Fill in the holes, insert guitar solos and lead fills where appropriate.

A Final Produced Product

After taken each step separately in you are now ready to make a great sounding recording. The song hopefully will bring a massive success for you. Plugintutor is here to boost all the emerging musicians.
