Valhalla Supermassive

Valhalla Supermassive is the most dynamic plugin on this list, Supermassive’s results range from super smooth hypnotic-entropic to spiral heady delirium. The delay plugin can be combined using the Warp control, giving you the likes of evolving echoes and reverbs that decay over the course of minutes. It combines parallel delays and reverbs with varied times for awesome fabulous polyrhythmic results. The main controls are Delay Time, which is either manual (0- 2000ms) or BPM-synced (1/64 to 4/4 note, with Dotted and Triplet options). Warp (0-100%) determines the variance in the feedback and delay times for the parallel loops.

It follows 13 algorithm modes that alteration the processing configuration, with unique attack/decay envelopes and varied blending of its variable feedback networks, some more reverb than delay. The next section controls the feedback with 2 knobs – feedback which controls the level of feedback. It is quite different modes and densities that control the perceived number of echoes in the output.

Here is included the mod station with 2 knobs – a mod rate which controls the rate of the delay length modulation in hertz and mod depth which controls the depth of the delay modulation. The depth also varies as a function of the Mod rate, it can create faster modulation without sounding too out of tune. This is extremely useful in setting the character and era of a reverb. Imagine having a Lexicon with this function, to make a vintage verb sound a lot more modern by cutting the de-tune.

The last section is an EQ section with simple LOW CUT and HIGH CUT knobs. Below the knobs, there are two drop-down menus – one for presets and the other that changes between the different modes. Supermassive runs in VST/AU/AAX formats.
